I am proud to introduce you all to my very old and talented friend Charlie Herman on the blog today. I met Charlie just over 13 years ago when we were studying an Art Foundation course at Loughborough University in 2006. We happened to sit next to each other on our first day of life drawing, and I remember glancing over to his easel and being in awe of his talent from that day.
Charlie does a whole range of artwork, and has worked with several brands over the years including Tiffany & Co. Over the last few years he has every now and then taken on wedding related commissions and I thought how relevant it would be to share them all with you.
My favourite wedding related story is when he drew individual portraits of every wedding guest prior to the wedding for my best friend’s sister, Georgina, and together they created a tea towel which Georgina used as a wedding favour for all the guests. Charlie drew each portrait from a photo Georgina provided to him, and the result was incredible - it was the talk of the wedding (photo of the tea towel at the end of this blog post)!
I’ll also never forget the moment when I walked in to my friend’s kitchen who lived all the way in Hong Kong at the time. I spotted a wedding invitation on her fridge, and I instantly recognised that it was one of Charlie’s illustrations on the invite design of the couple. What a small world it is…
Charlie is currently taking commissions which range in prices, starting from £100 for a bespoke A4 illustration. His pieces can make the most lovely gifts, especially if you know of someone who has just got married. For example, Charlie has done a few paintings of people’s wedding cake or of flowers from their bouquet - a lovely keepsake and memory of a part of the wedding which doesn’t live beyond the day.
If you are interested, please do give him a follow on Instagram and send him a Direct Message. He would love to hear from you.
